My name is George Andrews.
If you don’t know me, here’s a quick bio: I’m a software developer turned teacher who’s madly in love with SEO and Social Software. For over 10 years now I’ve helped local businesses with SEO, Social Media, and Internet Marketing. In the fall of 2013, I accepted a teaching position at the Chippewa Valley Technical College and teach Object-Oriented Analysis & Design, Java Web Programming, and Mobile Application Development with Android. I am scheduled for iOS training and will be teaching two courses on Mobile Application Development with iOS as early as Fall 2014.
My latest contribution to the SEO Community is a WordPress Plugin powered by the Mozscape API. The purpose of this plugin is to provide Moz Analytics at your fingertips while you edit Posts and Pages in WordPress. Please check it out and let me know what you think; I’d love your feedback.
This is my personal website where I write about things that matter to me and where I provide a little insight into the many projects I’ve been working on.
If you’re looking for help with SEO, you can call me. But lately I’ve been busy; so please be patient, and don’t be surprised if you get my voicemail:
Do you need help with Social Media? I provide social media advice and can help you determine which Social Networks are right for your business. If you don’t know how to use Social Networks, I also provide training.
George Andrews builds custom social software
One client, a local bar and grill, wanted to schedule updates to social profiles and their blog so their messages reached customers at just the right time. Using the Twitter and Facebook APIs, I wrote a custom application that gave the client the ability to schedule Tweets and Status Updates ahead of time. The client was able to write a Twitter update or Facebook wall post on Monday and schedule it to publish on Friday night, long after they had gone home for the weekend. I wrote this tool in PHP sometime in 2007; it was powered by a simple cron job that ran every five minutes looking for new messages to send or post. Then came along Hootsuite, a better, richer, social media management system, and this tool became history.
I also wrote a tool that allowed customers of a local business to sign up for text or email messages for upcoming activities, such as concerts, events, and weekly specials. The business could then send one message that would reach every customer on the list. This tool used Twitter to receive text messages from the business, and a cron job to poll for new tweets which were then used to send out emails or text messages to customers.
Maybe you have an idea for another great social software solution. If so, I can help you build it.
